Nu-mă-uita is a Romanian phone app that keeps track of documents with an expiry date (the ITP roadworthiness test, RCA car insurance, the road vignette, ID card, passport, driving licence, home safety checks) and sends a notification in good time before each deadline. From a document you go straight to where it gets sorted out, such as the online appointment for an ID card or the page where you buy the road vignette, and for the documents renewed most often a short guide says what to bring. It is free, works without an account and without ads, and the documents stay on the phone.
The facts in brief
- Price: free, with every feature and no limits.
- Why it is free: “It's new and has no server. Your documents stay on your phone and never reach us, so we can't see them or sell them. There are no ads, and no one pays us for the links in the app. What you use now stays free forever.” (the answer given in the app)
- Account: none. You use it without signing up.
- Ads: none. The app has a single commercial link, marked as such (an RCA price comparison site), and we earn no commission from it.
- Data: cars, documents, expiry dates and photos are saved on the phone; the app has no server. What does leave the phone, and why, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
- Languages: Romanian and English.
- Who makes it: Alexandru Paraschivoiu. It is not a government app and does not represent any public institution.
- The name: “nu-mă-uita” is the Romanian name of the forget-me-not, the flower on the app icon.
Where it stands
- Android: in closed testing on Google Play, with a group of testers. The public launch is coming.
- iPhone: the version is in the works.
