What to bring
- The application form, filled in at the counter
- Your ID, the original
- The medical certificate, from an authorised clinic, stating that you are fit to drive
- Your old licence, the original
- Proof that you paid the fee

How long it takes
You can file at any licensing office, whatever your address. The licence is not handed over on the spot: it arrives by post, in 5 working days on average, 14 calendar days at most.

Worth knowing
The licence comes by post to the address you put on the form (not necessarily your registered one), or you collect it from the office you choose on the form. Pick an address where someone will be in. You need your ID in original. If your ID card is also about to expire, ask the licensing office before you go.
